MEET JOHN KING
White Rabbit Gallery was founded by glassblower and artist John King, whose work brings together a lifelong fascination with nature, glass and the transformation of natural objects into something that can be kept and worn.

Born in the UK in 1982, John moved to Washington State in the USA as a child. At the age of 15 he began learning the art of glassblowing during the early days of the Pacific Northwest flamework movement. After returning to the UK in 2000, he continued developing his glasswork and began experimenting with electroforming — a process that would eventually become central to White Rabbit Gallery.
John founded White Rabbit Gallery in 2008, combining traditional glassblowing with jewellery created from real natural objects. In 2010 he opened the White Rabbit Gallery shop in Brighton, showcasing his own work alongside pieces from other independent artists and makers. The shop became known for its unusual collection of jewellery, glasswork and art.
Today, John works from his studio in the Ashdown Forest, Sussex. His botanical jewellery begins with real leaves, flowers, seeds, feathers and other natural forms. Through electroforming, each object is preserved within a layer of metal before being finished in silver or 24 carat gold. Because the original natural object remains inside, every piece retains its individual shape, texture and character — no two can ever be exactly alike.

Glassblowing remains an equally important part of John's work. From small pendants and mushrooms to larger sculptural pieces and memorial glass, each piece is individually made by hand using techniques developed over nearly three decades of working with glass.
Nature has always been at the heart of White Rabbit Gallery. John collects much of his inspiration from the countryside surrounding his Sussex studio, preserving the details and imperfections found in natural objects rather than trying to make every piece identical.
The White Rabbit itself represents curiosity, transformation and the beginning of a new journey — ideas that have remained part of the gallery since its creation.

In 2016 John moved to the Ashdown forest area of Danehill with his lovely Johanna. A new beginning presented itself again in 2019 when their first son Casper was born, followed by his little brother Bodhi in 2021. Mostly UK oriented for the first 14 years a new adventure now commences with the launch of the White Rabbit Gallery brand in Europe.
